Adult Drop-in Classes

PDT’s Adult Program offers classes that are fashioned for adult students of all levels of training. From college aged dancer and former dancers/professionals, to absolute beginners, we aim to provide you with the dance training for this stage in your life in a supportive environment. Attention is given to correct body alignment/placement, strength and flexibility, and providing the foundations of in all disciplines offered. Adults have the option to try out their first class for free to see if PDT is the right fit for them.

Adult Class Schedule

  • Mondays

    Intermediate Adult Ballet

    7:00-8:30 pm

    Taught by Gretchen Kollnesher, this class is designed for the experienced dancer or returning dancer who has at least an intermediate understanding of ballet technique.

  • Tuesday Mornings

    Open Advanced Ballet

    10:00-11:30 am

    Taught by Gary Jeter, this class is designed to get dancers moving to center quickly paired with intricate combinations at center.

  • Tuesdays

    Adult Beginner Ballet

    7:00-8:30 pm

    Taught by Gretchen Kollnesher, this class is for the absolute beginner. The fundamentals of ballet technique will be taught in a light, but productive atmosphere.

  • Wednesdays

    Adult Contemporary

    7:30-9:00 pm

    Taught by Gary Jeter this class is for the Intermediate dancer who wants an expressive form of dance combining elements of ballet, jazz, and modern. A beautiful class that is informed and inspired.

  • Thursdays

    Adult Jazz

    7:00-8:00 pm

    Taught by Will Burden, this adult jazz dance class provides a fun, energetic class focusing on jazz techniques and choreography. Improve your strength, coordination, and rhythm. Suitable for all skill levels, it offers a lively class to get you through the end of your week.

  • Fridays

    Adult Hip Hop

    7:30-8:30 pm

    Kick your weekend off with adult hip hop taught by Will Burden! This adult hip hop dance class combines high energy movement with a structured, accessible approach. Enjoy a non-intimidating environment where you’ll master a variety of hip hop fundamentals with clear, easy-to-follow choreography to all of your favorite songs.

  • Book Individual Class

    Pre-booking is required at least 24hrs in advance of class

    A minimum of 4 students must be booked for class to be held

    If there are not enough students booked, class will be canceled and refunds or exchanges will be issued.

FAQs

  • Nope! Our adult classes operate on a drop-in basis, giving you the flexibility you need with a hectic schedule. Just remember to pre-book 24 hours in advance of whenever you can attend.

  • There is no dress code for our adult classes. Please wear anything that you can move in and makes you feel comfortable. Ballet slippers are preferred for ballet but not required.

  • Any changes to your booking must be made with at least 24 hours notice. We are happy to issue a refund or reschedule an existing booking when give appropriate notice.

  • Philadelphia Dance Theatre is Located on the New Covenant Campus on the border between Mt. Airy and Chestnut hill.

    After entering the campus, you will cross a speed bump located in front of the security house on the right. Once you pass this speed bump, veer to your right and follow signs for PDT / Baird Hall until you reach the parking lot area. If parking is full, you are welcome to use the lot at the campus entrance.
